Intended as a college text as well as for the general reader interested in the art of our time, "Made in the U.S.A." begins with an abbreviated background in European modernism, followed by discussion of a transitional phase. Primary concentration is placed twentieth and twenty-first century art in America. The book is inclusive, that is contains discussions of work by women, men, African American, Native American, Hispanic and Asian American artists. Art placed within a social-political milieu allows a contextual background for recent art. Links are provided to visual reproductions of numerous art works.
