Life in Words: Essays on Chaucer, the Gawain-Poet, and Malory

I have been interested in genealogy since discovering a trunk in my parents attic filled with articles of clothing and artifacts of my grandparents. They were unknown to me as all four of my grandparents died before I was born. After I was married I wanted to know more about my ancestors and also my husband's. I found other relatives who had done research, from Germany, Denmark and Belgium and that put me on a path of collecting information about my Metelmann ancestors. My aunts, Julia Fisher and Mabel Hurley gave me their information. My mother, Martha Soeby was a saver and kept the documents that her father Emil brought with him to America. My grandmother Mary Metelmann saved letters from her brother Robert in England during 1907 through World War I. These items are all included in the book along with their descendants. Enjoy!
