Maria Tecla Artemesia Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian educator and physician, an acclaimed humanitarian and devout Roman Catholic. She is best known for her philosophy of education, and her writing on scientific pedagogy. This book is Montessori's own exposition of the theory behind her contemporary educational techniques.
