Dear Father,

Oh, it's hateful to think of you in your prison cell, all alone! We miss you terribly. Please don't blame yourself for what happened.

You musn't worry about us. I promise to take care of Mother and Cassie. I have left school, and now work at the Fairy Glen sweet factory. It was so hard to give up my scholarship, and some of the girls here are horrid - but I quickly showed them that although I'm little, I'm also fiery! And Mrs Roberts, the factory owner is wonderful. She is a suffragette - and I'm going to be one too.
