The Star Who Almost Wasn't There

The Star Who Almost Wasn’t There tells the story of the first Christmas star and how he was transformed to become the brightest star in the sky. The story was written in 1965 for the author’s first niece, who was born in that year. Stacey was premature and at risk, given a fifty-fifty chance for survival. But survive she did, and she is today the mother of three. As a college student, the author wanted to give her new niece a special gift for her first Christmas, and decided to write a children’s story dedicated to Stacey Ruth. Once the idea formed, the story unfolded naturally.
