The fruit of an effervescent love between an American actress and a Greek musician who abandoned him into the arms of his American grandmother, Joe Landis is unable to settle down because of his wide oscillations between resenting and forgiving his parents. A freethinking seeker of the extraordinary, he longs for a woman with a gorgeous soprano, an hourglass body, and a golden heart. Instead, he receives an invitation from a Zen-Christian astronomer-monk to help Greek orphans, in exchange for sublime gifts.
