Passing Heights

Passing Heights is a fiction inspired by the extraordinary lives of the authorâs parents. The story superficially chronicles the typical immigrant experience of many Chinese Americans but it also illustrates how character, honor, and duty enabled the Mark family to emerge with personal enrichment and love. The story, as narrated through the eyes of the familyâs youngest child, leads the reader through interwoven plots of war, love, cultural identity, wealth, poverty, and death. An emphasis is placed on the lessons learned from his parents and the creation of a legacy of optimism, idealism, and love that spans across generations.
