She served on many non-profit organization boards, started organizing small business conferences, joined the Chamber of Commerce, and started a business networking group that addresses the needs of an underserved area of the city. In 2004, someone had the audacity to suggest she run for Mayor of Augusta. A far-fetched idea at first, but after much contemplation, incredible support and lots of prayer, she decided to go for it. She didn't receive enough votes to win, but that didn't stop her from running for another race for a House seat the following year.
She never missed a beat, despite the challenges, obstacles, and name calling. She gave that race all she had, but still came up short. Since then she's started her own successful talk radio show, now ranked second in the local market, is already working on another book slated for release this year, has received numerous leadership and community awards, continues to serve on prominent boards, organizing conferences and workshops and living life to the fullest. Sure it gets tough sometimes, but we only get one shot at life. She has decided to give God and people all that she has.
