Casual yet engaging the book depicts the authors family history from the viewpoint of a Afro-American woman who successfully assimitated and adapted to the changing patherns and ways of growing up. The story chronicles and innocently precocious view of education, farm life and seemingly endless wandering for jobs in the Lone Star State. A life changing situation came to a head but faith,hope,grace, and love revailed.
