"By the demolition experts, the 1515 Towerâs Demolition was a spectacle witnessed by thousands from rooftops, bridges, parks, and fl otilla of boats in the Intracoastal
Waterway. It all happened on Valentineâs Day, February 14, 2010. And to make the demolition more interesting to the spectators from afar, building 1515 was the thirdtallest implosion staged in the United States. With three booms, the 30-story condo tower pancaked upon itself to the ground within 9 seconds for the tallest, narrowest one ever imploded, according to Eric Kelly, president of Advanced Explosives Demolition.
It took over 2,000 sticks of dynamite arranged in stages to bring the building down on the 2.5 acre site. After a heavy gray cloud of dust blew across the Waterway to the ocean, it was over. Complete silence until the boat horns tooted and the thousands of spectators started to cheer and some with disbelief that âit came down so fast.â It was a perfect implosion."
