SAND HILL

In early October 1965, with pressure mounting in Vietnam, President Lyndon Johnson lifted the ban on drafting married men without children. Two months later the author was called to duty.
Though more than two million men were drafted from 1964 to 1973, not all were sent to Vietnam.
All of them did however, share one thing in common; eight weeks of basic training.
"SAND HILL", one of several Army training areas of Ft. Benning, Georgia, describes in vivid detail, what transpired during those eight weeks.
