Someplace in the Middle

Just when Simone decides to acknowledge her racial identity as biracial, racial tensions erupt in her school. Simone never imagined that it would be so hard to stand up for herself. Everyone else seems to have a race to stick with. They don't understand why Simone would call herself biracial if her skin is brown. Simone feels like she is someplace in the middle of two races without a clue of how to fit in. Can she use her mixed race to help lead the end of the racial tension or will she be forced to pick a side?
