Where There Is No Hope, There Must Be Determination

Type 1 Diabetes, formerly referred to as Juvenile Diabetes, is a chronic condition that is diagnosed in children and young adults. Type 1 Diabetics are insulin dependent. Today, Type 1 Diabetes are able to monitor their own blood sugars and live active lives. But it was not always the case. Few Type 1 Diabetics have survived long enough to tell the story that the author tells here. He recounts how it was to be a very young Diabetic before the advent of the scientific advances that have greatly benefited those living with Type 1 Diabetes today. Having been insulin dependent for over 50 years, he tells his story. It is shocking, poignant, and full of hope. He writes to give hope to all who are effected by his disease.
