Jan Sparkman's book, Lucy J: The Life and Times of an Early Feminist is a fictionalized account of the real life of Lucy Jackson Moore Williams, entrepreneur, realtor, and speculator in oil wells. It covers the period from 1884 to 1925 and tells how Lucy takes the reins of her life and makes the transition from dependence to freedom of choice a memorable journey. She was a pioneer feminist, though she had probably never heard that word.
Jan Sparkman received her BA in Writing/Literature from Burlington College, Burlington, Vermont. She has been writing since the 1960s.
Her published work includes two novels, three nonfiction books, a collection of short stories, a book of poems, a children's story, magazine articles, and hundreds of newspaper columns and book reviews.
