The author suggests that
many primitive ideas are held
as traditional. This assumes that
primitive folks knew more about
life and the world than modern
man. Thus tradition is a straight
jacket that imprisons its victims in
ancient lore. Why not update asks
Mr. Johnstone. What reason might
we have to set primitive knowledge
above ours in these matters.
If God is beyond the understanding
of modern man how could primitives
understand?
People who "knew" that the earth
was flat do not seem like authorities
on God, righteousness, love or any
other significant issue found in
modern life.

Some are brilliant and some
