What's a Pet Taxi?

Jeannine Terpening started Chicago and perhaps America's first Pet Taxi service in 1983. Her operation later became the inspiration and model for similar services across the country. Through her ten years experience a receptionist in a Chicago animal hospital, she learned that clients often had difficulty finding reliable transportation for their pets.At the age of 45, while recuperating from breast cancer surgery, she decided to start a pet taxi.
Over the years, there have been frequent referrals to rescue situations. Interviewed by both radio and television, Jeannine's services have expanded through free advertising. In addition, Jeannine maintains a database for lost-and-found pets often successfully reunited people and their pets.
Since the beginning of her service, Jeannine has taken time at the end of each day to record her tales, the animals, the people, the situations and the problems. Jeannine currently has retired in Wisconsin with 1 dog and 6 cats.
