Mayu, the Life of a Finnish Woman

Mayu is a woman of penetrating intellect, but somehow she can never get her relationships right. Her abusive alcoholic father both disgusts her and thrills her with his leftist ideology. Despite her vow to avoid the fate of her long-suffering mother, she marries a compulsive womanizer whose torments her with his affairs. Before, during, and after her marriage, she tries to fill the holes in her heart with one unsatisfactory encounter after another. She finds a lover, an Indian colleague, who cares about her. But will she be able to overcome her difficult past, her distrust of men, and the yawning cultural gap between the two of them and build a future with him?
