Information Dynamics presents an interdisciplinary treatment of nonlin ear dynamical systems with an emphasis on complex systems which transm it information in time and space. The book offers a new theoretical ap proach to dynamical systems from an information theory perspective. Th e goal of the book is to provide a detailed and unified study of the f low of information in a quantitative manner, utilizing methods and tec hniques from information theory, time series analysis, nonlinear dynam ics and neural networks. The authors use analysis of test-bed simulati ons, empirical data, and real-world applications to give concrete pers pectives and reinforcement for the key conceptual ideas and methods. T he formulation provides a unique and consistent conceptual framework f or the problem of discovering knowledge behind empirical data.
