Understanding Crime Incidence Statistics: Why the UCR Diverges From the NCS

This volume examines closely the differences in measurement systems with regard to crime incidence. Two independent national measures of crime incidence, the UCR (The Uniform
Crime Reports) and the NCS (National Crime Survey), are compared; as well, their controversy among various fields of study requiring crime incidence statistics is discussed.
