Long-Term Consequences of Disasters: The Reconstruction of Friuli, Italy, in Its International Context, 1976-1988

The region of Friuli/Italy was destroyed in an earthquake in 1976. The author of this book, a geographer, has studied the process of reconstruction in its many facets over the course of the subsequent 12 years and is offering his observations in the form of this comprehensive case study which serves as a useful model for other cases of disaster management. His analysis ranges from social aspects to demographics on civil engineering approaches and long-term economic sta- tistics, and follows all stages of recovery.
