On being given the assurance that she would be perfectly safe, beautiful, wealthy Ruth Gable is seduced by the mysterious Simon Calder into spying on her new Lebanese neighbor, Isabella Amin, to gather evidence against her husband Amin Jabril, who is suspected of being an international terrorist. She becomes caught up in a cauldron of horror, violence and the pursuit of vengeance. Set in London's Hampstead Garden Suburb and in Balkania, a fictitious Balkan state redolent of Yugoslavia, where Christians and Moslems engage in a cruel civil war, the narrative is suspenseful, topical and hard to put down. A tense and thoroughly entertaining story.
