The Last Underclass

By 2152, wise computers have replaced middle managers, service workers, and many professionals. Billions overcrowd the planet; the less clever subsist on welfare. Galactic settlement beckons but ruling "Achievers" say the incompetent poor need not apply. "Quiet" Griffin, a ghetto "Welfie," opposes them and learns that upper-class geneticists breed "improved" humans from the poor, then transplant aged personalities into young bodies. How can Quiet save humanity from genocide and unprincipled genetic tampering?
