A widow and a widower fortuitously meet each other on a country road in Normandy France. Ralph, the widower is an elderly African American contemplating suicide because of loneliness. Bronia, the widow, has a forty five year old son that has just accused her of insect with him twenty five years previously. This is the love story of the following two weeks of their lives and the previous two centuries of a line of each of their ascendants. Bronia stemmed from Polish serfs and poverty stricken aristocrats. Ralph is a descendant of Ogundele, a Yoruba aristocrat that was kidnapped and sold into slavery by three of his fellow tribesmen to avenge his taking credit for military actions that were theirs.
