THE PHILOSOPHY OF EXISTENTIALISM: ADRIAN VAN KAAM'S EXISTENTIAL COUNSELING

This book is about the study of a branch of existential analysis represented by Adrian Van Kaam. It points out the counseling techniques in the schools of psychotherapy and the philosophy of existentialism as the historical background of the ideas which ushered the existential counseling techniques of Van Kaam. The methodology used was analysis using the criteria of Van Kaam's existential counseling techniques in three aspects:

1.) human encounter which considers "the counselor and the clients self-actualization and self-transcendence;"
2.) Freedom which considers openness to reality, willfulness, wiliness;
3.) history, culture and tradition.
