Winter 3000 years ago, invaders decimate their homeland. A small group of Bird Clan refugees flee north into unknown glacial Canada.

This story focuses on families and interacting relationships, but mostly of a brother and sister's leap to maturity in a beautiful yet hostile area. Through all, the Bird Clan so far manages to stay together, yet that may soon change. A hostile clan threatens to enslave everyone who crosses their path. People intercede but to not much avail.
