Between the Doors

Between the Doors is a collection of forty-one intense, tightly crafted and highly lyrical poems. They are configured for the printed page but meant for the ear, for listening, line by line and word by word, with attention to the silences between. Many of the poems were written during the build up to the Iraq War and the horror its beginning. It is an intimate work, a prayer for peace and a series of love poems. Every word is a gift. As poet Alexandra Grilikhes has said of Susan Windle's work, "Her simple, clear lines will stay with you a long time. Do not understand them too quickly."
