Ireland 1800-1850

This is a history of Ireland during the half century which followed the Act of Union (1800) which established the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. It deals principally with political history and is the companion volume of the authors Pre-Famine Ireland: Social Structure. To avoid the common fault of dealing only with themes of interest only to Irish nationalists, the author followed the course of events as recorded in the daily newspapers of the time. The actions of all groups involved in Ireland at the time are recorded in as fair a manner as possible.
