Murder in the Woods: A Griff Noble Mystery

The man looked down at the child lying on the blue painter's tarp beside
the small mound of newly dug dirt. He smiled sadly at the little blonde haired
girl, her pale blue eyes looking blankly up at him. Setting the sharp bladed
shovel aside, he knelt down to gently lift the lifeless body and carefully
placed the small girl into the handcrafted casket. Next he placed the small
brown teddy bear with its black button eyes and bright blue ribbon in her
arms then made sure the small gold locket was positioned in the exact center
of her small chest. Finally he dropped the shiny brass key chain with the logo
of a law firm etched into the fob then carefully closed the lid before setting
it into the newly dug hole. It took only ten minutes to replace the dirt then
leave the small clearing in the woods. He was already in the dark woods so
he never saw the beam of sunlight highlight the new grave in the center of
the three graves.
