Strange Tales of Unpopular Creatures

There are many people who are repulsed by creepy-crawly things, but, as with all things in life, the more you study a subject, the more interesting it becomes. I have written five stories about unpopular creatures in which the creature has either a built-in “yuck!” factor (spiders and slugs for example) or has a personal reason for the “unpopular” label. I think all children (and many adults) have times when they feel isolated by a feeling of being a misfit, and I hope that the stories will bring hope and comfort, as well as being interesting. In my stories I ask my readers to identify more closely with the creepy-crawly world around them and to look at it with new and more sympathetic eyes. The bugs are unlikely heroes who save the day or have unexpected attributes; if we alter our perception of these creatures as things to be avoided and consider them instead as things that are alive to the endless possibilities that surround us, we can respond to the wonderful and fascinating creatures with whom we share this magical planet.
