Brunswick Legacy: A Learned Man

My grandfather died when I was 11 years old. I was 13 when I read my father’s book about my Grandpa for the first time. The legend of HCH that had grown steadily over the course of his lifetime and strengthened after his death greatly intimidated me because my own memories of him were dim. But in rereading Brunswick’s Legacy-A Learned Man, I have been reintroduced to a man I never knew.

Although my memory fails to recall a full-bodied picture of my grandfather, I now know than in large part, I owe my close relationship to my own father to HCH. For he inspired HMH to become the father I adore, the businessman I respect and admire, and the friend whose companionship I treasure. It cannot be merely coincidence that my father-child experience echoes that of my father’s special relationship with his father. Thank you Grandpa, for this very special gift and for the legacy of achievement you have left behind.
