Cinquains & Sonnets

The Cinquain is the only native American poetry form, pioneered by Adelaide Crapsey. After her death, it rather slipped out of fashion until the women's movement in the seventies. The Sonnet, of course, was pioneered by Petrarch, and made its way west with the Rennaisance. Shakespeare showed the world the versatility of the sonnet.
