Once is not custom, this novel of our favorite columnist of the West, is located in the French Antilles, specifically in Guadeloupe. Although we find the recipes that made its success, the adventure, the picturesque and exotic scenes of fighting, this story has a real and dramatic historical context: the restoration of slavery by Bonaparte, and revolts slaves who tried to resist. This story also is full of very interesting historical and topographical information.
