Final Judgement

The lynching tree: a device used all too commonly to settle the score for both real and imagined offenses in the years following the Civil War. In this novel, narrator Adam Weathers is compelled to attempt to solve a mystery: whether a lynching victim, an ex-slave named Frank Hill, was actually guilty of the crime for which he was summarily charged by the mob that took his life. Part historical drama, part mystery, the novel captures the feeling for the post Civil War period through the medium of a journal which falls into the narrator's hands.
