Jordan Freeman Was My Friend

A dramatic rescue births a friendship between 11-year-old Billy Latham and ex-slave Jordan Freeman, servant to Col. William Ledyard. Friendship ripens as war clouds gather over the coastal town.
On Groton Heights, led by Ledyard and Billy's father, men toil to construct Fort Griswold. Billy hires on as water boy. His ties to the Fort deepen when Jordan and his Indian friend, Tom Wansuc, enlist.
Then Benedict Arnold launches an assault on Fort Griswold. Only 120 militiamen turn up. And Billy turns up, too. The horrors of that day change forever the life of Billy Latham.
