The memoir covers O’Rourke’s Irish Catholic childhood in Philadelphia, military service in Puerto Rico, marathon running, recovery from prostate cancer and a heart attack. He is married with four children and four grandchildren and lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland and Grand Beach, Michigan.
