Alice in Sunderland

I moved in to take care of my great-grandmother Alice, who was 99 years old. I wanted her to spend what time she had left in her own place, not an unfamiliar retirement community or nursing home.

This is a detailed account of the day-to-day struggles we faced together. Alice was the great-grandmother suffering from Alzheimer's, and I was the loving great-granddaughter who tended to her every need. This book documents her downward spiral from constant lucidity to almost permanent confusion. The journal entries span a five-month period of time, from when I moved in with her, until she passed away.
