In the late seventies, as a novice in a wildlife park, a nineteen-year-old is asked to hand raise a baby otter for the title role in the film version of Tarka. At the start life hangs by a thread but gradually an exceptional bond is forged. Living and working together the pair become accustomed to each other’s world - from the busy motorways and London underground to wind swept dunes and the swirling river Torridge.
