Seeking to leave every memory and reminder of his former life behind, Brandon leaves his hometown of Springfield, Missouri for the obscure town of Coma, California, hoping to fade away and be left to himself. However, as Brandon crosses paths with the residents of Coma- namely a young woman named Becca- he finds in them a remarkable kindness that makes it difficult to remain in isolation.
