Indian Territory was a dangerous place with roving thieves and wild renegade Indians. Caroline's elderly uncle arranged her marriage but Caroline had other plans. She wanted an exciting life in Kansas City but found herself in a remote Cherokee village. There was the Trail of Tears. the Civil War battle at Webbers Fall, the ever increasing conflict of the forbidden lust she felt for the strong handsome Cherokee brave and her dreams of the "good life" in Kansas City. Young ladies had to very prudent in 1857 or they could get into a pregnant trap. It was just too much to handle and the only sensible thing was to run away and try catch a flatboat back to civilization. Caroline didn't know what danger she had placed herself in by running away and the young handsome brave's s love was so strong that he would risk dying for her. This is not the usual "girlie" romance , it is a "Page Turner" but it is romantic and has some violence.
