A Hunter's Tale

A mature narrator remembers a day he joined a small hunting party in the Black Hills over a month after the Cuban Missile Crisis and not only hunted but learned important lessons about love, sex, deal-making, and survival. The story is told from the points of view of the boy and of the man he became. There are various adventures, some violence, but if the book were a movie, it would be rated PG-13; though there is some nudity, there are no scenes of graphic sex or mindless violence. Discoveries include material on sexual knowledge, hunting skills, race relations, class differences, alcohol problems, deal making, and violence.
