Choosing the Best

When Iris Marten sets out an ambitious plan of becoming a medical doctor in the mid 1950s, she never dreams what lies in store for her. University brings a flurry of emotions and new ideas that test Iris's faith, emotions, and ideals. Tim, a handsome student with a liberal theology and humanitarian passion, catches Iris's eye-yet Milton, a charming classmate, begins to capture her heart.

Meanwhile, Milton wages an internal struggle with his own sexual identity. Is homosexuality forever, or can his increasing devotion to Jesus Christ and his supportive small group give him the courage to find a new beginning?

Betrayed by a colleague and torn between two men, Iris begins to give up hope of ever realizing her dreams. Will she have a chance to graduate? Can she learn to forgive those who have wronged her? Will she have a chance at marriage?

VICTOR RATZLAFF is a retired paediatrician, living with his wife, Hedi, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Victor enjoys working in his church and finds special pleasure in leading small home groups. Victor's first novel, Creation Wars, featured the Marten family.
