I Hope for You . . .: The Voices of Mothers Around the World

In order to better understand children in the context of family and culture, Associate Professor Molly A. Harney spent six years exploring the topic of maternal hope. Her research took her to Mexico, Scotland, Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain, India, and England interviewing hundreds of mothers. In each country, she approached women on the street, in town squares, and on subways, and asked them, quite simply, “What do you hope for your child[ren]?” Molly recorded the responses and then asked each mother to pose for a photo with their child(ren). Her collection is presented in I Hope for You… This collection of photos and interviews is shared with you as a cross-cultural message of maternal hope.
