Cookies for Frankie is a true story of how a set of cookie cutters wre handmade in 1882 so a two year old boy named Frankie Determan could have special Christmas cookies. Frankie's German parents were unable to find cookie forms in America like they remembered from their youths in Germany. They loved their new life in America, but wanted to preserve some of their German heritage. Frankie's fahter and uncle cut apart a tin dinnerware to fashion the cutters that still exist in the Determan family today. The story chronicles how they made them in language that children can understand
