LIFELINE: A Memoir

Dr. Nicholas Steiner is a New York based internist with a history of advanced melanoma that led to premature retirement at age 50. One day the cancer returns and is considered inoperable. With a predicted survival of only 3 months he turns to Dr. George Wong, a practitioner of Chinese Traditional (herbal) Medicine; the cancer disappears. Years later when the author develops prostate cancer, Wong accompanies him to China for treatment with a new method in a military hospital. Their unusual experiences are related with pathos and humor in this concise memoir that also includes numerous memorable photographs.
