Mitzi and Joey

The introductory poem in Mitzi and Joey, “Mitzi and Moondust”, explains Mitzi's desire to tell her story and how moondust may have turned the story into a fantasy. The poems narrate a special time in Mitzi's life during the 1940's, from the time she is four until she is eight. It was a time of family, of loving, of making friends, of having important experiences such as moving and the first day of school. The poems are grounded in every day life--the chores, having a tea party, and finally being faced with another move away from her friends.
