Some stories are less than epics but more than mere thoughts. Each is an escape from an emotion we all feel at least in our life time. They are stories about strong women and even stronger love despite what life throws at them, but more than that, they are stories about impossible dreams. I wrote ‘Catching the Bull’s Eye’ for appeasing the demon in me. The need to feel I could conquer the unknown. Hyde was the ‘big bad’ that could signify anything in our lives. An insurmountable fear, the one who got away, the nightmares that needed to be defeated. It is a literal story about catching the bull by its horns. ‘Red and White’ was born of a desire to be something I could never be: a boy in a world where being a girl was sometimes confusing and disillusioning. It was perhaps a need to remind myself that we are past the age where leaders were only men. It was a moment of weakness when, even in our times, it felt like a man was needed to fulfill our dreams. ‘The Memoires’ was written in the grotesque but fascinated need to understand what the world would be through the eyes of a man who lived through history. What would they think, seeing the machinations of those who made history and saw the consequences of the many holocausts mankind survived. Or did we? And last but not least, ‘Nina’s story’ is just a teaser to my upcoming book. If you enjoy her take on power, politics, love, and happiness, you’ll enjoy the remaining six colors of the ‘The Rainbow Sisters.’ Enjoy!
