Twelve Years Until Heaven

How was I to know that one baffling long distance call was bound to change my life forever. The desperation I felt at that particular moment in time was staggering. My mind let in all kinds of disturbances, which left little room for any other thought process. The numbness became too real and terrible worry flooded my senses. The words that were being transferred to my mind were not coming through clear. How does one process the information I was given? With complete dread I being told my precious mother Esther was apparently dying.
