Plutarch: Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans

Written in the late 1st century A.D., Plutarch’s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans - also known as Parallel Lives - contains over two dozen biographies of historical figures with an emphasis on their lives and influence, behaviors, moral successes and failures. The work remains a primary document for a number of these men of note, and sometimes contains information on them and the life and times of ancient Greek and Rome which is contained in no other surviving document from the time.
