The Journals of Lewis and Clark, 1804-1806

In 1804, Captain Meriwether Lewis and Lieutenant William Clark set out as the historic, first American Expedition to cross the United States, at the behest of then-President Thomas Jefferson. This historic mission had as its goals primarily map-making, but also included scientific research on plants, animals, and geography. Published in 1904, this volume covers the trek from the Vermilion starting in August 1804 to Musselshell, Montana - essentially the middle portion of their journey.
