For the Good of the Child

This story is about my search for my birth mother. After I lost my first child, every doctor I went to told me the same thing: “I need your medical history.” The only thing I could tell them was, I was adopted, and I knew nothing. With nothing more than a record of birth and no help from my adoptive parents, I started my search. With the help of some of my coworkers, my whirlwind search brought me to the answers I was looking for and a birth mother I had never met. Three weeks changed my life when I met my birth mother for a much-awaited meeting but an all-too-short relationship.
